5-Day Southern Morocco Adventure from Fes to Marrakech

This unforgettable 5-day journey takes you deep into the soul of Morocco. Starting from the historic city of Fes, you’ll travel through the majestic Middle Atlas Mountains, explore the golden dunes of the Merzouga Sahara, discover palm-filled valleys, ancient kasbahs, and charming Berber villages. The trip concludes in the vibrant city of Marrakech, after a scenic drive across the High Atlas Mountains.

Day 1: Fes – Middle Atlas – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

Your adventure begins as you leave Fes, heading south through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains.

Pass through Ifrane and stop in Azrou to see the cedar forest, home to wild Barbary macaques. 

Enjoy lunch in Midelt, known for its apples, before continuing through the Ziz Valley and into the desert region. 

Arrive in Erfoud, famous for its fossils, and then travel across a black stone desert to reach Merzouga.

Mount your camel and trek into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi to spend the night in a Berber desert camp.

Dinner and traditional music under the stars.

Day 2: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges

 

Wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast. 

Ride camels back to the village and drive to Rissani to visit the mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif.

Continue through lush palm groves to reach Todra Gorges. 

After lunch, enjoy a walk through the canyon, where vertical cliffs rise over 300 meters. 

Dinner and overnight stay in a charming guesthouse or local hotel nestled in the gorge.

Day 3: Todra Gorges – Tinghir – Dades Gorges

After breakfast, depart Todra and head to Tinghir, where you’ll visit a traditional Jewish quarter.

Continue through the village of Imider toward Boumalne Dades, stopping for panoramic views over the

valley and its picturesque Berber villages. 

Arrive at the Dades Gorges and explore the winding canyons, fig tree fields, and rose terraces. 

Dinner and overnight in a traditional hotel.

Day 4: Dades Gorges – Valley of Roses – Boutghrar

Today, travel deeper into the Valley of Roses, reaching Kelaat Mgouna, a town known for rose

cultivation and beauty products. 

Visit a local cooperative producing rosewater and cosmetics. 

Continue through breathtaking landscapes toward Boutghrar, a charming Berber village surrounded 

by almond trees, red rock formations, and rose fields. 

Enjoy lunch in a local kasbah and spend the night in a peaceful rural guesthouse.

Day 5: Boutghrar – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Telouet – Marrakech

3 days desert tour from Marrakech to Fes

After breakfast, visit the Kasbah Amridil in Skoura, a perfectly preserved example of southern Moroccan architecture. 

Continue to Ouarzazate to explore the Kasbah Taourirt and the renowned Atlas Film Studios. 

Then, visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah with a local guide—a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

After lunch, drive through the scenic Ounila Valley to reach Telouet Kasbah. 

Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass and descend into Marrakech, where your driver will drop you off at your accommodation. 

End of the 5-day journey.
