5 Days Trip from Marrakech to Tangier

enjoying-morocco

Join us on a spectacular 5-day adventure from the vibrant city of Marrakech to the northern gateway of Tangier. This cross-country trip unveils Morocco’s incredible contrasts: from snow-capped peaks to golden dunes, lush valleys to blue-washed medinas, ancient kasbahs to modern ports. You’ll follow the famous Route of the Thousand Kasbahs, travel by camel through the Erg Chebbi dunes, and explore imperial cities and remote mountain villages along the way.

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

Depart from Marrakech in the morning and cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m). Enjoy scenic stops in traditional Berber villages and mountain valleys.

Visit the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, one of Morocco’s most iconic fortified villages, and a backdrop for many Hollywood films.

Continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert,” and pass through the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs and the Valley of Roses.

Arrive at the Dades Valley, where you’ll stay in a charming riad or guesthouse.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Tinjdad – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, follow the road through Skoura’s palm groves and along the Dades River to the towering Todra Gorges, a paradise for climbers and nature lovers.

Walk through the Tinghir palm groves, then continue through Tinjdad and Touroug, en route to Erfoud, known for its fossils and marble workshops.

Arrive in Merzouga, where your camel caravan awaits. Trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes during sunset and spend the night in a traditional Sahara desert camp under the stars.

Dinner and Berber music by the campfire complete this unforgettable evening.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Ziz Valley – Ifrane – Fez

Start the day early to catch the sunrise over the dunes, then ride your camel back to Merzouga for breakfast.

Begin the journey north through Rissani, the cradle of the Alaouite dynasty, then drive through the dramatic landscapes of the Ziz Valley and Middle Atlas Mountains.

Pass Azrou and its cedar forest (home to wild monkeys), and stop in Ifrane, often called Morocco’s Switzerland for its alpine architecture and clean air.

Arrive in Fez, where you’ll settle in a traditional riad for the night.

Day 4: Fez – Chefchaouen

Spend the morning exploring Fez, Morocco’s cultural capital. Visit the historic medina, Bou Anania Madrasa, Nejjarine Fountain, Karaouine Mosque and university, and the vibrant tanneries.

After lunch (not included), begin your drive toward Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains.

Upon arrival, check into your riad and enjoy free time to explore the blue-painted streets, artisan shops,

and breathtaking hillside views of Chefchaouen, one of the most photogenic towns in Morocco.

Day 5: Chefchaouen – Tangier

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning in Chefchaouen.

At the agreed time, your driver will transfer you to Tangier, whether to the port, airport, or your accommodation.

End of your memorable journey through the diverse landscapes and cultures of Morocco.
